Jalene Medina was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and began her dance training at Vicky Simegiatos Performing Arts Center. She trained under the direction of Vicky Simegiatos, Despina Simegiatos, and Matina Simegiatos, and has been a member of The Vicky Simegiatos Dance Company, performing numerous soloist roles in the company’s full-length ballet productions.

 

She continued her dance training at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and received additional training from the School of American Ballet and The Alvin Ailey School before attending Vassar College. A 2023 graduate of Vassar College, Jalene earned a B.A. in Mathematics and Dance Studies. As a member of the Vassar Repertory Dance Theater under the direction of Stephen Rooks, she performed original works by Jennifer Archibald, Amy Hall Garner, Desmond Richardson, Yoshito Sakuraba, and Mike Tyus.

 

Jalene currently works at MOVE|NYC| as the Programs Manager and is pursuing her Masters in Performing Arts Administration at NYU.  As a freelance dance artist, she has worked with Rogue Wave, Spero Dance, and Marie Christine Giordano Dance. 

 

An alumna of VSPAC, Jalene is excited to teach at the studio that inspired her love of dance and helped shape her into the artist she is today. She looks forward to sharing her knowledge, passion, and experience with the next generation of dancers.
